The Queen

I have signed up for a painting workshop next February from a New York artist, Patti Mollica.  She will be teaching the class in acrylic.  I did paint in acrylic for a short period of time many years ago, but decided i needed to "play" a little with it to get more comfortable.  I drew a plain ol' face in charcoal on an 8x8 panel.  Had nothing in mind . . . The Queen emerged!

A Day in the Garden

Yesterday, I took a 1-day class from watercolor artist Jane LaFazio - "Sketching and Watercolor - Journal Style".  It was a really special day.  The class was held at the California Center for Creative Renewal in Encinitas.  The owner of the center is Ellen Speert and she is an art therapist.  The grounds are absolutely spectacular.  After Jane would give a little demo, then we would wander out into the garden and find some special little spot and draw and paint. Here are 3 of my little pages (the one on the right is a totem pole in the garden, which was really cool!)  Also a couple photos of the garden.

Persimmons

Someone at work brought in some persimmons, so decided to do a little still life with them.
